The Crash Test Dummies are a Canadian rock band, formed in 1988. Their single “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” was a #1 hit in many countries worldwide. The verses are describeing the isolation and suffering of a child, two of whom have a physical abnormality. Although the song was so successfull, it’s often listed in the ranking of the worst songs, but I like it ;)

Music from Ireland – Kodaline // Alternative Rock

Kodaline are an alternative rock quartet.  Originally known as 21 Demands, the band made chart history in March 2007, when their debut single ‘Give Me A Minute’ topped the Irish Single Charts; becoming the first independently-released track to achieve the feat. Music from the German Democratic Republic – Herbst

A year before the two german countries reunited , the band Herbst (autumn) asked on a gig for minute of silence for the victims of the massacre of Tiananmen Square in Beijing . After this gig they been banned for further live performances . With a trick , the band steals the tape with the soundtrack and  smuggle it to West Berlin. The track “Backschischrepublik” becomes in 1990 a hit in west germany .(Tourists give a baksheesh (tip) in Islamic countries in general  for services or favors.

The British rock singer Joe Cocker has died at the age of 70 years.(* 20. May 1944 in Sheffield, Yorkshire; † 22. December 2014 in Crawford, Colorado, USA) His hits include songs like “Unchain My Heart” and “You Are so Beautiful” and this one he performed on the legendary Woodstock Festival
