No , not the Beatles have been the first one , the Yardbirds used the sitar first in one of their songs “Heart full of Soul” but replaced it lateron with an ususal guitar because they thought the sound is too “thin” , The Yardbirds have been active from 1962 til 1968 . 1992 they´ve founded the “new” Yardbirds , they consist til today . A lot of great guitarist have been members of the Yardbirds Eric Clapton , Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page , here is the song i´ve mentioned an outtake with a guitar used , but the soundtrack is the one with the sitar and the guitar version below
