Music from Austria – Udo Jürgens R.I.P.

Udo Jürgens (born September 30, 1934 in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria; † 21 December 2014 in Münsterlingen, Thurgau, Switzerland), civil Udo Jürgen Bockelmann, was an Austrian composer, pianist  and singer. He died yesterday at the age of 80 years .

Udo Jürgens composed more than 1,000 songs and released more than 50 albums. In his more than sixty year career, he sold over 105 million records , making him  one of the most successful male solo artists in the world.

RapTyrolizm is the rap project of Nigel aka Black Sheepert thaZoli aka Textodendron from the state Tirol, Austria. This song called “Tiroshido”, in the tyrolean slang is really moving to me, no gangsta rap, it’s a song about unity in Tirol. Awesome!!!

Quadro Nuevo , an instrumental quartet , founded 1996 in Salzburg/Austria , a group from germany , the european answer of argentinian tango.

They won several prizes, gave already over 3000 concerts all over the world . They play in concert halls , pubs and on festivals , but they often practise their music also as street muscians.

Music from Austria – Lia Pale

Lia Pale is generally considered as one of the most promising young jazz voices of Austria. But she gained her first musical experiences in a marching band.
On her debut album “Gone Too Far”, the Vienna-based musician dedicated the song cycle by Franz Schubert’s “Winterreise”. The twelve selected Schubert songs range from jazz, classical and light pop leanings and have been arranged by composer and pianist Mathias Rüegg.
