Music from the US – Go Radio

Go Radio is an alternative rock band from Florida.  They formed in 2007 and are finally gaining traction in the alternative scene.  They have released two studio albums, the most recent being Close the Distance in 2012.  This is their great song “I won’t lie” (anyone else hear the similarity to Matchbox Twenty’s “How far we’ve come”.)

Music from the US – Flobots

Some weeks ago, Dayyan introduced me into Flobots, and US-american alternative rock and hip-hop group formed in 2000. Here’s their nice song “Handle Bars”:

Music from Scotland – The Jesus and Mary Chain

The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride, Glasgow in 1983. The band revolves around the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid. They released a string of albums, singles and EPs between their 1983 formation and their 1999 breakup, and gained notoriety in their early days for short sets and violence that became common at their live shows. In 2007, the band reunited.

Here is their song “Just like Honey”

Music from Canada – Downhere

Downhere, formed in 1999, is a canadian alternative rock band. They won the Juno Award, and already released six albums. Here’s their song “You’re Not Alone”:

Music from South Africa – Heroes Wear Red

This band was originally called Bloodmoney but changed their name in 2007 to coincide with the release of their debut album Surviving September.  Love their sound and hope they have huge success in the future.  Here is their fantastic song “Bring Me Love”.

Music from the US – Morphine

Morphine was an American alternative rock group formed by Mark Sandman and Dana Colley in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1989. They disbanded in 1999 after frontman Sandman died of a heart attack.
Morphine combined blues and jazz elements with more traditional rock arrangements, giving the band a very unusual sound.
