This Afro-fusion band was formed in Cape Town in 2002. The band members variously hail from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Freshlyground’s musical style blends elements of traditional South African music (such as kwela and African folk music), jazz and indie rock. Filipe Mukenga, is an Angolan musician and songwriter born in Luanda in 1949. Mukenga started sing in 1964 influenced by Beatles. He collaborated with bands like Os Brucutus, Os Indómitos, The Five Kings, The Black Stars, os Rocks, os Electrónicos, os Jovens and Apollo XI.
