K’naan was born in Somalia and spent most of his childhood in Mogadishu. His real name Keynaan, means “traveler” in the Somali language. When he was 13, K’naan and his family moved to Canada. He rose to prominence with the success of his single “Wavin’ Flag”, which was chosen as Coca-Cola’s promotional anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We have featured other songs by K’naan on this site so also check them out. This is one of my favourite called “Bang Bang” which was released in 2010 and features Adam Levine of Maroon 5.
I already often blogged some K’naan songs. He’s a somali musician who escaped to Canada while there was a civil war in Somalia. He will release a new album called COUNTRY, GOD OR THE GIRL next Tuesday! Here’s his song “Is anybody out there”, featuring Nelly Furtado.
And a great cover by Savannah Outen, Jake Coco & Caitlin Hart:
Another great song called “Fatima”, by K’naan, a popular musician born in Somalia and now living in Canada:
Aar Maanta is a Somali singer, composer, songwriter and music producer. Produces an eclectic mix of styles blended with traditional Somali music. Here is the song “Maanta”
K’naan is already very famous for his song Waving Flag. But there are songs which aren’t so popular, but they’re also good. Here’s Strugglin’
After the FIFA World Championship 2010 in South Africa, everyone knew K’naan, a musician born 1978 in Somalia, who now lives in Canada. He makes rap, worldmusic and traditional African music. I like his music very much, so this will be probably not the last post about him.;)
