Music from Burkina Faso – Smarty

Smarty once was part of the burkinabé music duo ‘Yeleen’ together with Mawndoé. Today they’re both performing their own ways of music. “Stop Pas la Music”, is a really awesome song!

Music from Burkina Faso/Belgium – Zita Swoon Group

The Zita Swoon Group, formed in 1993 in Belgium is a great indie band. In 2010 Stef Kamil Carlens and Zita Swoon Group traveled to Burkina Faso in West Africa to play and create with Mamadou Diabaté Kibié and Awa Demé, griots from Bobo-Dioulasso. Listen to their nice song “Tasuma-Ji”:

Music from Chad – Mawndoé

Mawndoé is a great musician from Chad, who released his first solo album in 2012. The years before he started his solo career, he played together with Smarty in the Burkinabé duo Yeleen. For me, Mawndoé is one of the greatest african musicians with his great voice and the nice guitar sounds. Listen to his great song “On survivra”:
