Music from the UK – Best Album of all Time

Coldpay’s second album has been named the favourite of all time by Radio 2 listeners. A Rush Of Blood To The Head triumphed in a poll which saw perennial favourites The Beatles score a highest placing of just number eight. The top album was revealed yesterday by DJ Jo Whiley following a countdown of the 100 favourites throughout the day, starting in the early hours.  Coldplay’s winning album – which features hits such as “Clocks, In My Place” and “The Scientist” – was released in 2002 and topped the charts, going on to sell more than  2.8million copies in the UK.

Music from the UK – Tracey Thorn

Tracey Thorn is an English pop singer and songwriter. She is best known as being one half of the duo ‘Everything but the Girl’, which had the hit single “Missing” in 1994.  Tracey Thorn solo has released four albums the latest is Tinsel and Lights, released last year.  She has done a great cover of The White Strips “In the Cold Cold Night” (could not find a video for that one).  This is her single “Joy” off the 2012 album.

Music from the UK – Marillion

HAPPY EASTER!  Today I picked out this beautiful song called “Easter” by Marillion.  Marillion are an English neo-progressive rock band.  In 1989 the sing “Easter” was off the album Seasons End, which became a UK Top 40 hit when issued as a single in 1990.

Music from the US – The Walking Dead Soundtrack Vol 1

Gotta say this is my favorite TV show!   Original soundtrack to the hit AMC TV series’ third season. Two incendiary tracks debuted in the first half of Season 3: Emily Kinney and Lauren Cohan’s powerful Folk elegy “The Parting Glass,” and Baby Bee’s guitar-heavy zombie blues jam “Love Bug.” Jamie N Commons’ “Lead Me Home” will figure prominently in Episode 12, followed by Fink’s “Warm Shadow” (Dactyl Remix) in Episode 13, and Voxhaul Broadcast’s “You Are the Wilderness” in Episode 14, all leading up to the album’s release date. In addition, the compilation includes previously unreleased material including “Sinking Man” from multi-platinum selling Icelandic alternative Folk sensation Of Monsters And Men, an UNKLE remix of composer Bear McCreary’s “Main Title Theme Song,” Delta Spirit’s “Running” and more. Just like the show, the soundtrack remains a dynamic powerhouse replete with unforgettable moments.
