Music from all over the World – Out of Space – 500th jubilee Voyager one – Golden record – blogpost on xworldmusic

This will be my 500 th blog post on I started to blog here , with the kind permission of Xandi , last year in may 2012 . Til this day i´ve posted nearly every day one or more music examples of worldmusic. And i decided , the 500th must be  one with a topic and i found yesterday on Cordulas Site this article  about Voyager One , a satellite which left in these days our solar system.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft is a 722 kg (1,590 lb) space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977 to study the outer Solar System and interstellar medium. Each Voyager space probe carries a gold-plated audio-visual disc in the event that either spacecraft is ever found by intelligent life-forms from other planetary systems. The discs carry photos of the Earth and its lifeforms, a range of scientific information, spoken greetings from people (e.g. the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the United States) and a medley, “Sounds of Earth”, that includes the sounds of whales, a baby crying, waves breaking on a shore, and a collection of Earth music, including works by Mozart, Blind Willie Johnson, and Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode”. (from Wikipedia article )

I decided to post the track list of this record , because i believe it´s a good part of our human musical creativity  and the examples are coming from all over the world , from different countries , cultures , languages and genres – and at least we should know ,what kind of music material we ´d like to offer to  the aliens, don´ ´t we ??

I’m gone sent into outer space – to find another race

I’ll take your brain to another dimension

Pay close attention (lyrics from “Out of Space ” from the Prodigy , not included on the golden record but a title which fits perfect to this topic )
