Music from Iran/Armenia – Hossein Alizadeh & Djivan Gasparyan

Hossein Alizadeh  is an Iranian composer, radif-preserver, researcher, teacher, and tar and setar instrumentalist and improviser, described by Allmusic as a leading Iranian classical composer and musician.

Djivan Gasparyan (var. Jivan Gasparyan;born October 12, 1928) is an Armenian musician and composer. He plays the duduk, a double reed woodwind instrument related to the orchestral oboe. Gasparyan is known as the Master of the duduk.

I´ve heard this today , a music proposal of Antje at the network Diaspora , while reading different postings and i was really impressed , thought immediately should share it with you , really a masterpiece of asian music .(Thanks to Antje :-) )

  1. I’ve been a fan of Gasparyan for some time. Don’t think I’ve heard this tune before (at least not this arrangement) – I’ll have to go diggin through my collection. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love this album. Have you heard Sari Galin? I think that song and the link you posted (Birds) are my favourites from the album. I love both Hossein Alizadeh and Djivan Gasparyan.
